Fencing Athletic Complex: South Gibson County High School
Chain Link Fencing for Sports Fields: A Look at Our South Gibson County Soccer Field Installation
The Project
The South Gibson County High School sports complex is a full multi-sport facility featuring baseball and softball fields, batting cages, tennis courts, and surrounding infrastructure including parking lots, lighting, and a facility building. Our installation covered the entire complex and included:
- Black vinyl-coated chain link fencing throughout the athletic fields and perimeter
- Green windscreen/privacy screen along the outfield walls for a professional ballpark look
- Batting cage netting and enclosures integrated into the fencing system
- Tennis court fencing along the curved walkway adjacent to the facility building
- Perimeter fencing separating the parking lot and pedestrian areas from the athletic fields
- Knuckle-top chain link for a clean, finished edge along all fence lines
The consistent use of black vinyl-coated chain link across every section of the complex ties the whole facility together visually, giving it the polished, coordinated appearance you'd expect from a well-funded school athletic program.
What Makes Athletic Complex Fencing Different
Fencing a single backyard or a straightforward commercial perimeter is one thing. Fencing a multi-sport high school complex requires an entirely different level of planning and coordination.
Multiple Fence Heights and Types Baseball and softball fields require taller outfield fencing, typically with windscreen, to create a proper playing environment and keep balls on the field. Tennis courts need their own specific height and mesh requirements. Parking lot perimeters are lower and more open. Getting all of those different specs right — and making them look like one unified installation — takes experience.
Curved and Angled Runs A straight fence line is straightforward. The curved sections around the tennis courts and walkways in this project require careful post placement and fabric manipulation to keep the fence line smooth and consistent rather than choppy or misaligned.
Batting Cage Integration The batting cages at South Gibson County are built into the fencing system rather than standing alone as a separate structure. This kind of integration requires precise planning to make sure the cage frames, netting, and surrounding fence all work together structurally.
High Traffic and Long-Term Durability A high school athletic complex sees heavy use — games, practices, tournaments, and daily foot traffic from students and staff. The fencing has to hold up to all of it without constant maintenance or repairs. Black vinyl-coated chain link is the right call here: it's tough, weather-resistant, and won't need to be repainted or retreated year after year.
The Value of a Coordinated Installation
One of the biggest mistakes facilities make is piecemealing their athletic fencing over time — adding a section here, replacing a run there, using different contractors and different materials. The result is a facility that looks inconsistent and requires more maintenance because nothing was installed to the same standard.
At South Gibson County, every section was planned and installed as part of a single, coordinated project. The materials match, the post heights are consistent, the corners are properly reinforced, and the whole complex reads as one professional facility rather than a collection of patches.
That kind of coordinated approach saves the school money in the long run and gives student athletes a facility they can take pride in.
Chain Link for School Athletic Facilities
Black vinyl-coated chain link is the gold standard for high school and recreational athletic fencing in West Tennessee, and projects like South Gibson County show exactly why. It's durable enough to handle years of heavy use, affordable enough to cover large complexes without breaking a facilities budget, and sharp enough in appearance to give any program a professional look.
If your school, park, or recreational complex is planning an athletic facility upgrade, we'd love to be part of the conversation from the start.
